Food is a valuable resource in Rust, keeping your hunger level to the max prevents exhaustion (not being able to run) while you’re away. It’s also nice not to have to die and regenerate health. Some players may find it a bit tedious, but with how easily accessible food is, it’s always worth eating on a regular basis.

Over time, you may find that your supplies get quite full. Or you may be spending too much time getting the wrong foods. It is important to know which ones to watch out for and which ones to discard or ignore.

Here are the top 10 foods in Rust. Rankings will not only depend on the stats provided, but will also take into account how easy they are to find.

9. Corn

Health: 6

Thirst: 5

Hunger: 40

Thirst: fifteen

Hunger: fifty

7. Granola bar

Health: 5

Thirst: 0

Hunger: 60

The same chance of finding is like the previous entry, at 21% on food boxes. While the granola bar provides less thirst than the tuna cans, the extra 10 points of hunger and slightly higher health regeneration make it slightly better.

6. Cooked Wolf Meat

Health: 5

Thirst: 1

Hunger: 60

reaping a wolf carcass with an ax or bone knife will yield up to 5 raw wolf meat. It is not easy to get a ton of this food, but when you have the opportunity, always take it.

Finding wolves can be tricky, many players tend to kill them on sight. It’s best to search in forested, snowy, or grassland biomes.

5. Cooked Pork

Health: 5

Thirst: 1

Hunger: 60

Boars are much, much more populous than wolves and meat provides the same stats. However, harvesting a boar carcass will award 8 pigs, instead of the 5 you get from a wolf.

Bone knives are very cheap to make and pay for themselves in bone fragments after a single hunt. It’s always good to have one with you, to help maximize your carnage.

4. Chocolate bar

Health: two

Thirst: 1

Hunger: 100

Low health and thirst is provided, but insane hunger, one of the few easy-to-get food box items left on the list.

Chocolate bars are commonly found in food boxes, picking them up should be a priority. Just fill them with sed from other sources!

3. Cooked bear meat

Health: 5

Thirst: 1

Hunger: 100

Bears are currently the most formidable animals in the game, capable of killing less prepared players with ease. A whopping 400 health pool makes it hard to take down, but if you do, the rewards are immense.

You can get 19 bear meats, enough to comfortably feed 4-5 people for a while. However, bear meat is pretty much the premium meat in the end game, not readily available for fresh spawns.

2. Can of Beans

Health: 4

Thirst: 25

Hunger: 100

Found in food boxes, canned beans are always easy to find and well worth stocking up on. The hunger is huge, the proportionate thirst is also quite pleasant.

Also get the additional bonus of 15 metal shards for smelting it!

1. Pumpkins

Health: 10

Thirst: 30

Hunger: 100

Like corn, pumpkins are found by rivers. Eating one will grant you 1-2 Pumpkin Seeds, which leads to 2 or even 3 more Pumpkins.

In short, no other food is so easy to obtain. No other food gives as much thirst, hunger and health regeneration.

Once you have a base going, you should definitely visit some rivers and start a pumpkin farm. Even if it’s just one or two pots, you’ll never worry about thirst or hunger again!
