Top 10 Villagers to Trade With

Villagers are NPC mobs, introduced in the february 2012 update.

live in townsthey roam the surrounding land and stick to their assignments work block.

At night, the villagers will sleep in their assigned bed.

If a villager doesn’t have a bed, they will claim the closest one, indicated by green flashes above the bed.

How to get more villagers in a town

More doors!

That’s all you need, place more doors and build small quarters for them to live in, complete with a bed and a work block.

How to change a villager’s job

Destroy the villager’s assigned job block, it will default to an unemployed villager if there are no other job blocks to claim.

Then place the job block you want them to claim, and they’ll automatically take it!

How to protect your villagers and keep them safe

The villagers cannot fight alone and are total pacifists.

What you will have to do is build, or spawn, a iron Golem.

I also recommend building a cobblestone wall around each town, with iron gates Y buttons to enter or exit.

10. Cartographer

work block: cartography table

Here mainly because of the ability to trade Emeralds for paper, which is a very common resource with a modest Sugar cane farm.

you can also get element frames quite easily

If you see the Woodland Explorer map, don’t be fooled like I was.

I spent an hour on my fastest horse, riding in the direction of the Manor, and still didn’t get anywhere near it.

Those maps have no minimum distance, you could get one that is hundreds of thousands of blocks away 🙁

9. Gunsmith

work block: Grindstone

Until you get a sword with the Mending enchantment, Weaponsmiths may be your easiest way to keep your offensive team topped up.

Enchanted Diamond Swords/Axes are available for up to 35 Emeralds.

Enchanted Iron Swords are also quite cheap and offer a good source of weaponry during the early stages.

However, getting past the Apprentice trade level can be daunting, as many of the trades heavily favor the Gunsmith.

Your best bet is to sell coal, then iron ingots, then flint.

8. butcher

work block: Smoker

Even though the Butcher requires a load of raw meat to get to Master level trades, it’s worth it. Offering one emerald for every 10 sweet berries, which can be easily obtained in stacks, they can become a great source of emeralds.

Also, by offering cooked pork/chicken chops, you can get a chest full of valuable cooked meat to make sure you never run out of food.

7. gunsmith

work block: Blast furnace

Considered obsolete once again when you finally get the Repair enchantment on your armor, armorers are awesome in the meantime.

If you’re lucky with the trades offered, 2 armorers can provide you with full enchanted diamond armor sets, costing between 58 and 124 emeralds.

Unless you want to sell piles of coal, iron ingots, lava cubes, or diamonds, don’t use a gunsmith to get emeralds.

6. Blacksmith

work block: blacksmith table

If you didn’t know, weapons and armor with the Repair enchantment will repair themselves even if they’re not equipped. While tools are not repaired unless they are equipped.

Because of this, Blacksmiths are more valuable than Gunsmiths or Gunsmiths.

You will be able to find enchanted iron tools at lower trade levels. After a few more levels, you can find enchanted diamond axes, shovels, and even a pickaxe.

If you can get a villager with the ideal enchantments, you’re good to go for the rest of your game.

To acquire Emeralds, don’t bother with the Toolsmith villager. they are going to want Coal, iron ingotsand even diamondsthings you will need yourself.

5. Archer

work block: feathering table

You can never have too many Arrows or pointed arrows. Fletchers offers 16 and 5 of those respectively.

Enchanted bows and crossbows are also available, although they are quite easy to get by fishing for enchanted books/bows.

Trading for emeralds requires Feathers Y String, 2 resources that tend to accumulate in chests without much use. Archers offer an outlet for those resources, in exchange for easy emeralds.

When it comes to acquiring arrows, Flint it is surprisingly difficult to obtain in large quantities.

Fletchers offers 10 Flint for 1 Emerald at its base level, extremely useful early in your adventures when you don’t have the Plenty enchantment!

4. fisherman

work block: Barrel

Fishing is one of the most boring, yet rewarding, things to do in Minecraft. Especially when you have a high level Fisherman salesman.

Searching for valuable enchanted books, bows, or fishing rods can come in handy, especially if you like to disenchant items you don’t really use.

Fish to eat, puffer fish to brew, and experience to level/enchant are also prevalent.

So you’ve been fishing for 20 minutes, you don’t need the fish as your food chests are full, it’s better to leave it to a fisherman in exchange for emeralds!

3. cleric

work block: Brewing booth

You’ll finally have a use for all of that Rotten meat sitting on their chests, as the Cleric will happily buy them from you.

nether wart it’s another resource you can sell to them, and you’ll have a lot sitting around if you have a basic Nether farm.

The Cleric’s utility comes in the form of selling, not buying.

luminous stone, ender pearlsY Bottle of Enchantment they are all available to buy.

While the first two are easy to get in small amounts, having them readily available from a villager is great.

2. librarian

work block: Lectern

Librarians are awesome and sell enchanted books for some of the best enchantments in the game.

Mending, for example, is an enchanted book that you need easy access to.

Lucky for you, there is a little-known tip to make sure your Librarian will give you the perfect enchantment you’re looking for. Acquiring a book with the enchantment you need is as easy as following a few steps:

  1. To start with, make sure you have an unemployed villager.
  2. Lock him in a room so they can’t escape and put up a lectern.
  3. They’ll become librarians, so check out the first enchanted book they offer.
  4. If the offered book is not the one you are looking for, destroy the bookstand and replace it.
  5. Check the offered enchanted book again and repeat until it is correct.

This method makes the Librarian one of the best villagers by far, but it’s relatively difficult to get large amounts of emeralds from them, which is where the next entry comes into play.

If you need to get emeralds from the librarian, then Paper Y ink sacs they are your best bet. After playing for a while, you tend to accumulate a large number of these, so you’re better off handing them over for profit.

1. farmer

work block: composter

Farmers are by far the best villagers to trade in Minecraft as they provide an unlimited supply of emeralds.

You will never have to buy anything from a farmer; instead, you can set up a decent sized plot of land to grow the food they need.

A farmer will ask Wheat, Potatoes, carrotseither beets for their initial operations, and eventually they will want pumpkins also.

All of these items are easy to get by the hundreds. Dedicate a part or two to farming, get a steady supply of the required vegetables for the easiest way to get emeralds in minecraft.

I highly recommend getting at least 5 farmers per village, for up to 140 emeralds per day!

Nearby farmers will also tend to the plots, harvesting fully grown crops and replanting them. They will then share the food with other villagers to produce villager babies.

I built my base in a town for my last game. He ended up with around 40 villagers, 7 of whom were farmers. When I was done with the world, I had 2 double chests full of emeralds!
