Pot of Desires, the best draw card in Yugioh!

Top 10 Draw Cards

We’ve all been there, you’ve challenged another player to a high-stakes duel and when the moment of truth arrives, you don’t draw the cards you need.

Frankly, it’s embarrassing when you have 5 or 6 cards in your hand, but you can’t do anything.

Frustrating moments like these can increase significantly in rarity thanks to some good drawing power.

Each and every archetype, type, and attribute will come with its own consistency cards, but there are plenty of generic cards out there.

If you need to touch up any of your decks, this list will help!

PS Some cards are absolutely awesome but are limited to specific conditions. See the list below.

10. Jar of Greed

Jar of Avarice, one of the best Yugioh draw cards

traps like jar of greed it doesn’t have much of a place in today’s deckbuilding, first turn matters a lot and if it’s just face down you’re setting yourself up for an OTK.

Jar of Avarice is an exception, extremely useful towards the later stages of the game if used in a loss deck.

However, the competition lessens when you’re using faster decks, if Jar of Avarice’s effect said you can target up to 5 cards (instead of exactly 5), I’m sure more would be used.

9. Exchange

Trade, one of the best draw cards in Yugioh

Although Trade-In can only be used in decks with level 8 monsters, it’s so good it had to be on the list.

Most level 8 monsters don’t mind going to the graveyard too much, in fact, they’d rather be there so you can use other cards (which you’ll probably draw) to summon them to the field.

If your deck contains Level 8 monsters, add this card. If you have a deck that requires drawing, add this card and some level 8 monsters!

8. Pot of Duality

Pot of Duality, one of the best Yugioh draw cards

Look at Pot of Greed’s face trying to get some recognition, to be fair it has seen some play thanks to Pot of Duality.

Choosing one of the top three cards in your deck is glorious, allowing you to get a much-needed card.

You can’t Special Summon it in the same turn, which is a big drawback, but justified, Pot of Duality would break absurdly without it.

7. Death card

Card of Demise, one of the best draw cards in Yugioh

Get it on Amazon

For many years, Card of Demise sat quietly on the sidelines, barely seeing any plays.

Recently though, it’s seen something of a revolution as players figure out how to get the most out of it.

Card of Demise can activate in your Main Phase 2, giving you spells/traps to set or a monster to throw into the Graveyard, or even a monster to Summon if you didn’t Normal Summon the same turn!

6. Goblin Upstart

Upstart Goblin, one of the best draw cards in Yugioh

If you didn’t know, Upstart Goblin is limited to 1 copy per deck, which sounds crazy if you have no idea how effective it is.

If I had up to 3 copies in a deck it would essentially be a 37 card deck which greatly improves consistency.

You’d give your opponent up to 3000 health, but the draw power more than makes up for that cost.

5. Pot of extravagance

Get it on Amazon

Pot of Extravagance is a must for any deck that doesn’t rely too heavily on its extra deck.

You can have 3 copies of this drawn card in your deck, using them to gain hand advantage or quickly outplay your deck, without paying too high of a cost.

The vast majority of Yugioh decks are based on their Extra Deck as it provides easy access to powerful monsters.

But for decks that don’t need it, and there will surely be some in the future, Pot of Extravagance is worth it.

4. Danger! Toolbox

An expensive and risky option, but one that can fit into 99% of your decks.

The risk! The archetype was completely affected by the banned list, but is still viable in a casual setting.

Competitively, the innate draw/seeking power of the best archetypes allows them to skip most draw cards entirely.

But Danger! monsters can be teched into almost anything, and they provide free monsters and consume energy, although less reliable nowadays.

The best combination is below:

  • 2x Danger! Big Foot! (Amazon)
  • 1 x Danger! Nessie! (Amazon)
  • 2 x danger!? Jackalope? (Amazon)
  • 2 x danger!? Tsuchinoko? (Amazon)

3. Pot of Greed

Get it on Amazon

Once a banned card, Pot of Avarice is now fully available to all players.

The fact that it relies on there being 5 monsters in the graveyard means that it can’t be used to initiate your first shutdown.

But that’s okay, this drawn card fits perfectly into so many decks, as getting monsters back into the deck can be invaluable in many strategies.

It also works on extra deck monsters!

2. Pot of prosperity

Get it on Amazon

Just released in the flaming vortex booster set, this is the latest jackpot card to join Yugioh.

If you remove 6 cards from your extra deck, you can choose from 6 dug cards to add to your hand.

No other generic draw card offers as much versatility, but it does come with many drawbacks.

The former is exceptional, or when you’re in a bind, you see Pot of Prosperity in certain deck builds, like Dinos.

It is currently extremely expensive, so I highly recommend waiting until it has been reprinted.

1. Pot of Wishes

Pot of Desires, the best draw card in Yugioh!

Get it on Amazon

By far the most used generic draw card in the game, Pot of Desires provides so much power for such little inconvenience.

Banishing 10 face down cards sounds like a high price to pay, but the 2 free cards, as well as no rules preventing you from drawing/summoning/etc. for the rest of the turn, they make it worthwhile.

It’s also a budget option, so you can get multiple copies of Pot of Desires for a fraction of the price of most other competitive staples.
